The MAS ETH in digital Clinical Research in a nutshell
The MAS ETH in digital Clinical Research has a modular structure and is comprised of two mandatory CAS (CAS ETH in Digital Clinical Trials and CAS ETH HSG UZH in Digital Health: Therapeutics), one elective CAS and a Master’s thesis.

How to apply for the MAS ETH in Digital Clinical Research
- Select your first CAS programme, for example the recommended starting point: CAS ETH in Digital Clinical Trials.
- Prepare your application documents.
- Register at eApply, the application portal of ETH Zurich.
- Complete the application form and upload all required documents.
- Pay the non-refundable registration and administration fee (by credit card or PostFinance card). Applicants with a degree from a Swiss university are charged CHF 50. Applicants from other universities are charged CHF 150.
- You will be sent an email confirmation that your application has been received and will be reviewed.
The School for Continuing Education verifies all applications for completeness and to ensure that they meet the necessary criteria.
Each application is assessed by the Programme Director and Programme Manager of the MAS and CAS programmes, and a request for admission or rejection is sent by them to the School for Continuing Education.
After your application has been reviewed, you will usually receive a written admission decision 4–6 weeks after receipt, or 2–4 weeks after the deadline for downloading the application.
If your application was successful and you have been admitted to the MAS or CAS programme at ETH Zurich, you will be matriculated automatically. No further confirmation is needed from you.
If you wish to withdraw, please send a written notification to the School for Continuing Education. Notify the school within the deadlines mentioned in the admission letter. In the event of late withdrawal, withdrawal fees will be charged.
Total programme fee for the MAS programme: CHF 37,300-CHF 44,630 which includes CHF 30,700 (fee for two mandatory CAS and MAS thesis) plus fee for one elective CAS ranging from CHF 6,500 to 13,930. Fees are paid in stages: you apply and pay for each CAS programme and the MAS thesis individually as you progress.
- Applications for the mandatory CAS ETH in Digital Clinical Trials (Autumn Semester 2026) are now closed. The application window for start in September 2027 open from 7 April to 7 July 2027 (rolling admission).
- Applications for the mandatory CAS ETH HSG UZH: Therapeutics (Spring Semester 2027) are open from 31 August to 22 November 2026 (rolling admission).
- Application deadlines for elective CAS programmes vary. Please check the respective programme websites for details.
- Applications for the MAS (master module) are possible after completing the two mandatory and one elective CAS programmes and obtaining all required credits.
First come, first served. To facilitate intensive interaction between experts and participants and allow sufficient time for individual coaching, we accept only a limited number of participants. We recommend applying early.
- A copy of the diploma certificate of your highest or most relevant degree and a transcript (of records) and diploma supplement (in the original language and in D/F/I or E translation).
- A scan of the page of your passport that has your photo, name, date of birth, and expiry date (must be valid for at least 6 months) on it. CH/EU/EFTA citizens can also upload a copy of their valid identity card (front and back) if no passport is available.
- A completed and signed consent form.
For the MAS ETH diCR and the CAS ETH DCT:
- Motivation letter (only for MAS ETH diCR)
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate(s)
- Certificate(s) or proven knowledge in statistics (e.g. from previous training)
- A Master's degree acknowledged by ETH or equivalent educational qualifications in life sciences
- At least two years of postgraduate work experience in a relevant field
- Sufficient prior knowledge of statistics and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Applicants who do not have any prior knowledge of medical statistics and GCP will be admitted with conditions and must successfully complete the relevant courses as part of the MAS programme.
- English at level C1
