The CAS ETH in Digital Health has started

This February, the Center for Digital Health Interventions (CDHI) launched the first cohort of its continuing education programme in Digital Health titled “CAS ETH in Digital Health”. This Certificate of Advanced Study is part of the programme MAS ETH in digital Clinical Research and has been greatly anticipated by everyone who has been working towards this over the past few years.

Fourteen professionals from the fields of medicine, research, the health insurance sector, the pharmaceutical industry, start-ups, NGOs, and the finance sector are on board. The programme was designed to cater to a diverse audience in order to facilitate an exchange between different disciplines.

Since the start of the programme on 7 February 2022, the participants have received an in-depth introduction to the topic of digital health, including several keynote lectures by Prof. Dr. Elgar Fleisch and Prof. Dr. Florian von Wangenheim. The majority of the teaching has been offered by the Scientific Director of the CDHI Dr. Tobias Kowatsch who shared important lessons from research projects and from using the MobileCoach platform to build digital health apps.

Collaborative tools were used to work together on group tasks and to also take some time to get to know each other. The group have had some great first discussions on topics such as how to reach vulnerable populations and the importance of building scalable solutions. So far, the organisers have received very positive feedback from participants.

As the first module of the programme is almost completed, module 2 is ahead. It will focus on learning how to assess digital health applications. Module 2 will also include a first group project which focuses on critically evaluating the offerings of existing digital health solutions.

The 12 month CAS ETH in Digital Health contains 4 modules and runs until February 2023 with a summer break between modules 2 and 3. If you are interested in the field of digital health, please stay tuned as details of the next cohort will be announced shortly!
